How do I reference a web site or e-journal ?

Books have been written on this !
There appear to be at least two acceptable conventions. Please see the following web sites for more details.

The general format is: (not all fields apply)
Author/editor
Article title
Journal title abbreviation
Medium (e.g. CD-ROM, Online, etc.)
Date of publication
Access date
Pages or length
"available" statement (e.g. WWW address, supplier and name of electronic database, E-mail address, etc.)

Example:-
Elbe, Dean. Grapefruit Juice-Drug Interactions Home Page [on-line] 2001 March 20 last update [cited 2001 Nov 29]. Available from: URL:http://powernetdesign.com/grapefruit

The Harvard system is described at
http://www.lib.flinders.edu.au/resources/sub/healthsci/referencing/electronic.html#www

The general format is: (not all fields apply)
author(s);
date (either a last update or copyright date);
title of the page (from the browser's title bar) in italics and with maximal capitalisation;
medium (i.e. Online), written in square brackets;
the Available statement, which is an URL;
the access date, in square brackets, in the form 10 March 2000.

Example:-
Elbe, Dean 2001, Grapefruit Juice-Drug Interactions Home Page, [Online], Available http://powernetdesign.com/grapefruit [29 Nov 2001]
