NOTES
- Exact details of
the base were not provided. It was described as a paediatric
mixture base containing syrup, carboxymethylcellulose, methylhydroxybenzoate
and propylhydroxybenzoate.
- Methylcellulose
1% could be used as an alternative suspending base.
- The suspensions
were chemically stable for 18 days but an expiry date of 7 days was
recommended due to lack of microbial testing.
- This study has
some limitations as the study period was only 18 days and stability
was only assessed at room temperature. Further studies are
required to assess longer term stabilty.
- Dispersing the
tablet prior to giving the dose could be considered.
