Famotidine powder for oral suspension is commercially available in some countries and alternative agents (ranitidine and cimetidine) are available as syrups.
The stability of an extemporaneously prepared oral liquid has been reported.1 A suspension containing 8mg per mL of famotidine was prepared by triturating the tablets with sterile water and then making up to volume with cherry syrup. The famotidine mixture was stable for 20 days at 4°C in amber glass bottles.
