METHYLPHENIDATE
 
 
Methylphenidate hydrochloride is freely soluble in water.

Solutions are most stable at pH 3 - 4.1  This formula has been adapted from a manufacturer's recommendation.

Formula

Methylphenidate Oral Liquid
 
Methylphenidate tablets (Ritalin®) qs   
Citric acid monohydrate 480  mg
*Sodium Citrate 72  mg
Parabens 0.1  %
Glycerol 50  mL
Water to   100  mL
 
Expiry/Stability:  15 days
 
Storage:  Room temperature (25°C)
 
Shake well before use
 
*  Can be omitted if not available.  Addition of citric acid alone (qs to pH 3 - 4) is sufficient for short term stability.
