Join our pharmacy team at Waikato Hospital to work in both the dispensary service and provide clinical services to wards/ departments. Hours are negotiable for the right candidate. We are one of the largest tertiary teaching hospitals in New Zealand offering a full range of specialties. Work in an innovative and forward thinking environment at the forefront of the hospital pharmacy.

Be challenged, working with a large, experienced team of pharmacists and technicians providing dispensary/ supply and clinical pharmacy services to Health Waikato hospitals. You are required:

  • to be a registered qualified pharmacist or eligible to be registered in New Zealand
  • to have a good knowledge of dispensary systems and processes
  • to have hospital experience -this is not essential however as training is provided.

Team Leader - Pharmacy
Hawke's Bay Hospital

We have a full-time position available at Hawke's Bay Hospital Soldiers' Memorial, Hastings, for a senior Pharmacist in the position of Team Leader to lead our operational team. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated person, with excellent communication and motivational skills and relevant clinical knowledge to continue the work of developing the dispensary and associated services.

The post offers a great opportunity for a Pharmacist to develop their management and supervisory skills within a supportive and stimulating environment, whilst still retaining a clinical pharmacy focus. You will be a key member of the Pharmacy Management Team. You will be responsible for:

  • Triaging medicines information queries that come through the dispensary
  • The accuracy of dispensed medicines
  • The development of protocols and guidelines to facilitate best dispensary practice
  • The clinical and managerial supervision of the dispensary team of junior pharmacists, technicians and assistants
  • The training, development and mentoring of staff.

Auckland City Hospital
Pharmacy Technicians, Aseptic Production Unit - Oncology Pharmacy

We have an excellent opportunity for highly motivated, technically proficient, aseptically validated pharmacy technicians to join our new cytotoxic Pharmacy Aseptic Production Unit (PAPU) at the Auckland City Hospital.

Pharmacy technicians will work with the Oncology Pharmacy Manager and Senior Pharmacy Technicians to provide technical support to ensure the delivery of an efficient, safe, accurate and cost effective chemotherapy compounding service to ADHB patients 24/7. Responsibilities will include participating in the full provision of the cytotoxic dispensing service including the reconstitution and compounding of cytotoxic medicines. You will be responsible for maintaining the compounding facilities and following standard operating procedures according to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).

The successful applicant will possess an NZQA National Certificate in Pharmacy (Technician) Level 5 or equivalent as assessed by Pharmacy Industry Training Organisation (PITO), be currently validated in aseptic compounding, have 1 year recent aseptic experience and an applied knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice. They will possess excellent organisational, planning and communication skills. Basic computer skills, and working productively in a team environment is essential. Experience working in a busy hospital pharmacy is preferred but full training and support will be provided.
